on13 is built so you can share what an organisation is really like without putting your name to it. Here is exactly how that works – and how we keep the reviews you read worth trusting.
How anonymity works
You do not need an account to leave a review. Reviews are anonymous by default. If you choose to verify you are a real person (via a social or email sign-in), that only adds a Verified badge – your review is still posted anonymously.
When you verify, your account identifier is passed through a one-way, salted hash on our server before anything is stored. The result cannot be reversed back into who you are, and your name or email is never saved alongside your review.
What people can see
- Your relationship to the organisation (e.g. customer, employee)
- Your emoji ratings and any written comment
- The date, and a Verified badge if you verified
What is never shown or stored with your review
- Your name, email, or account identifier
- Your exact IP address or device details
- Anything that links two of your reviews together
A salted hash of your network and device signals is kept briefly, used only to prevent spam and abuse, and is never attached to the content of your review.
How on13 protects review integrity
Anonymity only matters if the reviews are honest. Every submission passes through the same checks, so what you read reflects real experiences – not manipulation.
Truth attestation
Every reviewer confirms their submission is true and factual before it is published.
Automated screening
Submissions are scanned for personal information, hate speech, and profanity. Anything flagged is held for human moderation before it can appear.
Anti-manipulation checks
Rate limiting, honeypot traps, and rating-pattern checks catch coordinated or automated attempts to skew a score. Suspicious submissions are excluded from public ratings pending review.
Honest averages
When a rating question does not apply, reviewers can mark it N/A – and it is left out of the average rather than counted as a zero. Statistical breakdowns only appear once there are enough reviews to be meaningful.
What the labels mean
- AnonymousThe default. Shared without any verified identity attached.
- ✓ VerifiedThe reviewer confirmed they are a real person – still fully anonymous.
- Under reviewHeld for moderation and not counted in public ratings until cleared.
